Happy CNY Day 8

[Morning] Went to sch...feeling strange ya. Haha! KH and Ann were absent, so I was alone but luckily I managed to keep awake..lolz! Haiz..last HRM lect tmr..and ME prelims on wed..super sianzz..
[Afternoon] Went to Mai Po's hse to bai nian..she's a friendly person..hehe! Too bad my cuzs didnt come la..abit sian. Walked over to "Just Green Veg" restaurant for dinner...my 2nd visit. Well, had my 3rd yu sheng this month and other dishes were quite delicious. Hmm...but some were quite ex la...abit not worthwhile..hahah!
Err...becoz of our last min visit, gotta skip WL's bdae party @ Aloha..very sorry abt that...though I had bought presents for her la..(kinda guilty sia..)

TV Drama Review #62 - Queen of the Game 游戏女王

Summary: 23 years ago, Kang Eun Seol's father, Kang Jae Oh, stole the position of Lee Shin Jeon's father in the company. This led to Lee Shin Jun's father to commit suicide with his wife and son. 23 years later, Shin Jeon, also known as Chase, wanted to take revenge on the Kangs. He made Eun Seol to fall for him, so that he can get close to her father. However, Shin Jeon has also fallen in love with Eun Seol, but Shin Jeon's partner, Joo Won loved him too..Eun Seol later found out about Shin Jeon's revenge plot against her father and she decided to get revenge on him for using her.
Comments: Actually the plot didnt interest me much, coz i dislike revenge stuffs. However, I wanna see Lee Bo Young & Joo Jin Mo la..so just cracked my head to finish the entire series. Initially the storyline was alright, Shin Jeon looked really suave and professional but Eun Seol was kinda childish to me, esp. after she fell for Shin Jeon. Plot kinda bores me when the real "game" started--too much tears and lies..as in they loved each other but becoz' of revenge, they hide it. Kinda sianz la. Things picked up a little after Shin Jeon lost his memory, and their son came into the pic! Oh he really saved the day ah! (same lil' boy in "Mr Goodbye" lo..aiyo so cute) Cast was ok...only watched Jin Mo's "Musa" before, and didnt watch his famous "Fashion's 70s". Thus, i was anticipating this drama, butta his character turned out to be quite contradictive la. Didnt really like Bo Young's character here...she's another contradictive fella. However, their acting skills are not bad...especially on emotional scenes. Supporting cast was average..nothing exciting abt them la. Kinda disappointed overall...but i'm glad the final epis were not sad anymore. But i agree with Tuan's view of pt..in the end who really win the game? Shin Jeon? He defnitely has lost..Eun Seol? hmm...maybe coz' the revenge was cleared and they can reunited together again. Well...that's why the title is "queen of the game"..haha!
Ratings: 7/10 (Don't watch if u don't like heavy-hearted dramas...didnt like the plot la)

[CC Gang] Met up with the other 3 gals @ Somerset. Had our delicious lunch @ Taka's Aji-Tei. Had a fun chat with the gals, especially HM. Wanna thank u for "Heng Xiang Lao Po Bing"...hehe!

[SR Gang] Wanna say a big sorry to the gals..coz' actually ur "booked" me for quite sometime...paiseh ah! Cld nt accompany ur to have lunch. Anyway, hope u like ur present Chair. Happy Birthday lo~ CL & Cin spent ard 50 bucks to get the soft toy monkey in the arcade...really rich sia! After that, walked ard and we went to Tea Shake Hut for some drinks & snacks. Had a "Champagne Grape" red tea...tasted good...
Heard it's quite pack during evening hrs...hoho!
Had some catching up with long-time-no-see Cindy la...and still missed seeing Les..poor gal had lessons mah. Return home after that for Mr Chean's home cooked dinner....yummy lo!

[currently] at my cuzs' hse...waiting for my dinner. Visited my uncle's family earlier just now...it's always fun to see him bickering with E.W. Most imptly, I felt at ease la..(tho we only meet once a yr....sounds pathetic? hahaha)
My dinner just now...."kenna bombarded" epi 2-continuation from Chu yi. I guess my pals wld find me pathetic liao...even Tuan and HL may be pitying me now. Hahaha! So, it all started with my "big day" coming..and my aunt was telling the "whole world" abt it...and then she remembered E.W told her tt i wld be inviting all female pals...So, she wanna intro her "army guys" to my pals & i...pls spare me la! Haiz~ I am still young sia..lolz! Also, Tuan's new image is making a strong impact on my relatives...and i kenna again la...(epi 1-plain jane...) Haiz~duo zai duo nan sia...think i gotta siam my aunt liao~hahaha! (err..how to siam?haiz~) Poor Ching...later must go complain to E.W liao..said so much....
Well, CNY hols are coming to an end and i havent prepare for the coming prelims. Stress...haiz~
[tmr] will be meeting CC Gang for a brief gathering..and may be...the SR gals too. Gotta c how's gg tmr la..i will try my best.

Happy CNY Eve & Day 1

[CNY Eve] Had my reunion dinner @ home yday with aunt. Had my steamboat feast la, and the funny thing was we were experimenting on boiling the calms. Conclusion was...bao beis can be cooked longer so as to make it soft...and it applied to another circular calm..dunno the name though. Butta...dont do this to the abalones...eat them using the "sashimi" way ba..delicious.
Went to Chinatown @ 10pm plus to catch the fire crackers & fireworks. Before that, was busy switching scv channels for tw cny shows...Anyway, didnt like Chinatown's deco this yr..too simplified...and not nice at all. Many ppl la..but E.W said nt as crowded as before. My previous 2 CNY countdown experiences were quite good, butta this yr's countdown was a little plain, maybe becoz' there were no Mediacorp artists hosting the event (only Mediacorp DJs..). Anyway, recorded the countdown stuffs, but wont be putting it up la. Enjoy the pics below~

[Day 1] This yr Hong Baos not alot ah...soobbzz...Went to watch "Ghost Rider" with Tuan in the afternoon @ Cine. Initially wanna to watch "The Matrimony", butta we were late. The movie's action effects were great, butta the plot was kinda simple. The baddies were so easy to deal with and the movie was damn short..105 mins? Err...in the end the devil who gave the special powers of the Ghost rider didnt die lo...hinting that there will be a sequel soon? Hahaha! Nicolas Cage was good...but the other female lead was kinda like "flower vase" la..what's her name huh? Hahaha!
Went to my aunt's hse later...saw my long-time-no-see cousins. WT was kenna bombed by my aunts and E.W.....hahaha! I was not spared either...well, what's wrong with being plain? haha! Will be gg to their hse on Tues for a feast ba? Ha! Gotta shed some weight after that.

Yesterday & Today

["Memorable" Valentine's Day] SC came to my hse to have lunch yday la, then she saw this "Euro Fair" @ Hg Central, so tempted to play sia. In the end, waited for Tuan to join us and we walked over to the field lo. Admission tix was 2 bucks while the rides were quite ex. 2 games were @ 10 bucks while the others were b/w 5-7.5 bucks la. Anyway, after much consideration, we only played 2 games...and cant tahan liao! Check out the pics...not in gd quality tho..paiseh ah!
The "Euro Wheel" which i cld see clearly from my hse...my only regret yday coz' it's open to public from 9pm onwards..too late liao! super sian...

The super scary "Vertex"...basically there were only 4 seats at each end ..and it wld spin 360 degrees..looked slow from far but it's not moving slow at all. There's another 360 degrees spinning machine "Top Gun"..that one was alright..very secured and nt that fast..but gotta bear with the uncomfortable feeling la...
Our first ride "Challenger"...super shiok but terrible also. It's kinda like "Pirate's ship" as it swings back and forth..but it's definitely more scarier than "Pirate's ship" lo..nearly screamed my lungs out..the wind was blowing hard on my face sia..and the swinging motion was really quite unbearable..lolz! Btw...it's one of the 10 bucks game...
"Tristar"...our 2nd and "killer" ride. We were seperated (sitting individually) and the metal bar wasnt very secure...which means we gotta use our hands to hold it down...made my tummy quite painful lo..coz' i scared i wld fall out mah. Actually this ride was ok, but forgot that it wld go up...so used all my might to hold onto the metal bar...lolz! After that...giddy liao...and couldn't recover to my "normal" state for quite sometime...Old liao la! Sobbzz...bu ren lao dou bu xing. Anyway, Tuan said we were dumb enuff to waste money to "torture" ourselves..hahaha! Err...well...once in a blue moon mah..
After that, E.W came to our rescue..haha! No la..she came down to bring SC's bag & bought dinner for us. Actually I was quite worried that I wld puke if i eat la...but i got so much better after having my fish porridge. Heee~~
[MOF no My Izakaya] Met up with 2 "Product of NIE" @ Cityhall tdy. Like no time didnt see them liao..all looking good anyway. Hehehe! Walked over to M.S and had our lunch lo...Menu was rather interesting, with many set meals to offer..ramens too. Check out the pics..

The station was so full of humans man! Hahaha! Haiz...

TV Drama Review #61 - Ooku-War of the Belles-大奥~华之乱

During the 5th Shogun Tsunayoshi's era, Ooku was completely controlled by the Shogun's mother, Keishoin. Oden-no-kate who was Keishoin's favourite concubine gave birth to Shogun's two children, Tokumatsu & Tsuruhime. However, her family background was poor and was looked down by Shogun's first lady Nobuko.

Tsunayoshi's official wife, Nobuko - who came from the famous Takatsukasa Family in Kyoto - has no children yet. Coming from a very noble family, Nobuko always stands against Keishoin and Oden-no-kata, both who come from average households. Tsunayoshi had two close advisors that he trusted very much: Narisada Makino and Yoshiyasu Yanagisawa. The story begins when Tsunayoshi visited Narisada's house one day and wanted his married daughter Yasuko to become his concubine. Yasuko was forced to divorce with her husband and later she became the shogun's favourite concubine, replacing Oden. Oden saw her as a enemy while Nobuko tried to get Yasuko into her camp against Oden. Unfortunate things happened one after another after Yasuko was pregnant with Shogun's child Chomaru.

Comments: 3rd and final instalment of the "Ooku" series. This time round the main focus was on the concubines la, the rivalry was more intense than the previous 2 series. However, the best part was the starter of this whole range of rivalry was actually Yanagisawa, who was trying to gain power. Plot wise was quite interesting, slightly better than "Ooku" but the romance factor lost to "Ooku Chap 1". The first 2 epis were quite "shocking" or rather, unacceptable. Refering to what the Shogun did to his past servant Aguri, who was Yasuko's mum.

Acting wise, u get great performances from most of the actors, even the "viewership rating poison" Fujiwara Norika did a gd job as the "insane Nobuko" coz' u cld feel her hatred and agony of being the only lady who cant bear children la. The only fella I didnt like was Koike who acted as Oden. Firstly, her face looked super weird and she always stared at other ppl. Only when she was fighting and crying then i cld enjoyed her "loosen up" expression. She's famous for her "excellent figure" butta her acting didnt quite convince me. Tanihara was ok too, but then the shogun's character development wasnt that much compared to Uchiyama's Yasuko. Uchiyama..after "Good Luck", didnt have much chance to see her acting la. Like her performance lo, though sometimes her expression was kinda "stagnant". Wanna mention Takaoka, super graceful and elegant lady sia. Like to listen to her conversation with other cast, dunno why her voice was so nice la. Lolz!

There's one part i was a little confused was on whether Keishoin was Gyoku who appeared in "Ooku Chap 1"-Lady Oman's maid..she was such a kind person there la, but a horrible mother in this series. Really cant accept her change lo...later i checked and quite cfm that she's Gyoku la. Haiz...in the end she also became the typical mothers who were only concern about the successor of the Shogun's line.

Ost was still as nice as ever, and gotta mention Tokyo Jihen's "Shuraba"-themesong la. The title is just perfect for the drama lo. If u have been an Ooku fan, cannot miss this drama k? Also, u will find many support cast who had acted in the other 2 series la...haha!

Havent watch the special leh...it's about the concubines' past, Tsuyonashi and Yanagisawa's past(which led to why Yanagisawa wanna take revenge on the Shogun).

Ratings: 8.5/10 (Gou Xin Dou Jiao...nobody wld be the final winner..And Ooku is still the prison of women)

[Valentine's Day] Er...it's "friendship day" to me la..actually didnt plan to buy stuffs for the exchange..so in the end bought the stuffs last min in sch. 吃一吃，逛一逛

[牛车水]又和家人一起去逛街啦，不过这次的focus是逛年货市场。我们先去了“奥奇”逛啦。。王太后和璇看上了一双Everbest的高跟鞋。。相当classy。过后。。走到了珠江大厦新开的“女人街”。很多店面还没开啦。。不过老实说，那里卖的东西还有点老气。。哈哈哈！在一间叫“Stellaris Silver ”的店买了一个silver coated w/ 白金的手镯，款式挺特别的，也是太后送我的生日礼物。建议大家如果晚上有空才去逛年货市场。。太热了！哈哈！今年的规模缩小许多，人潮也还不算太拥挤。走了几条街，却只买了几样东西。。
[地茂馆]今天和璇吃“情人节套餐”。。哈哈！一共有六道菜，另外再叫些点心。。hohoho！

总的来说，这次的套餐比上次好吃多一些啦。份量也刚好。。哈！对了！要提醒各位在离开餐馆前，一定要查单据。太后回家算账(expenses)的时候，发现他们的service charge不是10%，而是16%。。多付了6%啊！！！所以。。。must double-check ah gals!

TV Drama Review #60 - Dicey Business 赌场风云

Summary: Qiao Zheng Chu is the CEO of "Onisac", who is a very successful businessman. He worked very hard to earn his fame and money. However, things went against his way and he stepped into a wrong path. Chu had two best friend, Chang & Rong. Chang went through many ups and downs in his life; he lost his brother Le, lost his luck in gambling, but he was lucky enough to find two best friends, who pulled him up. When Chang found out Chu's wrongdoings, everything changed. In the world of gambling, someone wins & someone loses, Chu tried so hard to win back everything, but at the same time, he lost his lover Yun, he lost his best friends, he lost his disciple Fu & he lost his mum. No one can win everything forever...In the end, people have to suffer because of Chu's mistakes...
Comments: Initially, wasnt really attracted to the plot, butta was curious how Yun can attract Chu, so I continued to watch. Plot was not bad, quite interesting, but some character developments were rather "dumb". Michael Miu & Bobby were 2 great actors, really interesting to see them on rivalry, and I think their characters were rather unique. Butta, perhaps, this show belongs to Michael's Chu la...full of developments and mixed feelings when Rong died. Jessica's performance was not bad, though many ppl didnt like her crazy Qing Yun. I liked it alot leh, coz' it's just different from her past characters. Tho her performance was quite exaggerating at the start, u cld see Yun changed as the drama moves on. Butta, her character began to reduce to a "flower vase" towards the ending...and i hardly get to see her. Don't like her contradiction on who she likes..another "dummy fella". Bosco was alright here, didnt like his character though..really wanna say Fu is "blind"...until it's too late. Haiz...i agreed with many others that his character changed too fast, rather unconvincing coz' Fu used to be a super introvert, and suddenly he had this 180 degrees change and got influence by his master Chu too easily. Tavia's image was rather new to me, but i wonder what's up with her speaking of cantonese, is it just to make an accent or she speaks like that? (nv seen her other dramas in canto before...) Her character is quite standard la, but she got many chances to flaunt her figure..hehe! Definitely must give thumbs up to other support cast, especially that veteran actor who acted as Rong (forgot his name in mandarin). Themesong was alright tho..
Ratings: 8.5/10 (This drama is not abt gambling to me, rather a story abt some ppl's ups & downs in life...we cant get everything forever, and definitely, u gotta sacrifice sometimes.)

S'pore Discovery Centre

[Today] Went to meet Ann at Boon Lay with SC. It's my first visit to SDC la..expected it to be kinda similar to Sci Centre. Well, bought the 15 bucks admin tix which has a complimentory Safti tour (which we didnt go..), 1 2D & 1 3D movie..Went to have my lunch at their cafe la..only 3 stores, not much choice. Ordered "long-time-no-eat" laksa, but when i saw the colour of it ah...oh my...how come the laksa so "white" ah? Hahaha. Met many pri and sec sch kids there...kids are scary...lolz! There's this boy who walked to our table and showed his chips to us..(asking if we want to eat or nt..) Both Ann & me were kinda surprised la..but we didnt eat la. Anyway, went to the Gallery, got many interactive games and stuffs...but the kids kinda bothered our way too much. Lolz! The 3D movie "Midadventure in 3D" was average, though the 3D effects were good, the story was..so so. 2D movie was about fighter pilots..and it's interesting..(but SC fell aslp..hahah!) Anyway, it's abt "red flag"- a combat training with 6 countries with the narrator telling us what happened during their training and the real "war".
Left the place at ard 5 plus, SDC is just beside Safti la, but i considered it a ulu place..haha! Went home alone while the other 2 went Daiso @ IMM. Had a fun day today...

TV Drama Review #59 - Lovers 恋人

Summary: Kang Jae is a wealthy businessman and gangster while Mi Joo is a plastic surgeon. These two met ater Mi Joo mistook Kang Jae as being her sleazy brother-in-law. Kang Jae just happened to be the boyfriend of Mi Joo's pregnant neighbour, Yoo Jin. Sae Yeon met Mi Joo and fell in love for her feisty attitude. Kang Jae worked for the father of Sae Yeon who's a gangster. Mi Joo and Kang Jae fell in love after sometime, but these led to the unhappiness of Yoo Jin & Sae Yeon. Kang Jae's real identity would also unfold as time went by.
Comments: A touching drama, especially after Kang Jae and Mi Joo were sure about their feelings. It's not an easy love. This is the 3rd series of the "Lovers" trilogy ...the feeling was rather different from LIParis or LIPrague. Plot was ok, quite interesting from start, but as the story went on, the emotions were getting heavier and sadder. Like the part when the leads went to Hainan...so funny. The dialogues b/w the characters are again unique...their way of bickering or suanning was funny. Long time didnt see Lee Seo Jin in drama...and didnt watch his "firebird". He's not handsome, but definitely attractive...especially his dimples lo. Kim Jung Eun did a goob job this time round, at least ppl can forget abt her "Princess Lulu" which flopped and kinda ruined her name. Jung Chan and Kim Kyu Ri were alright, but I dont like Kyu Ri's character la..super sianz. Kang Jae's follower San (Lee Han) was quite "sparkling" after this role...another cute fella...haha! One of the main attraction of Lovers was the super long kissing scene...long time didnt saw such an emotional one..all the way to erhem...actually dont think too far la..lolz! Very glad that the PDs didnt gave us a sad ending, but the ending was kinda simple too la. I bet nobody wld dislike it.
Btw, those familiar with the trilogy wld know lah, this drama is not those sweet or idol type one la..it's rather mature...may drag a little here & there.
Ratings: 8.5/10 (Lee Seo Jin & Kim Jung Eun's chemistry was good...how can u miss it?)

[Lunch] PY couldnt make it to our gathering today...nvm. Was very disappointed that the Mario Restaurant closed on sunday..and we didnt know it becoz' there's no notices. So anyway, walked to see got what else to eat along Liang Seah St..and i suggested to go Yik Chun at Pervis..hehe..so GC knew this place also. Got a little surprise when i opened the door la...so many ppl inside, and we manged to grab the last available table..or else gotta wait for ppl to leave. Surprised to see many young ppl in this old restaurant wor. Hehe! Ordered the must-eat 白斩鸡，烧肉，冬粉炒cuttlefish, prawans and assorted meat. Glad that SC said the chili was nice...yeah! Not spicy but nice lo..must dip when u eat the chicken meat la. Well, it's just so different from the normal hainanese chicken rice u get outside..(why leh? coz' they nt using traditional hainanese method ba...) SC...why u cant taste the diff? wahahaha! sad leh. Anyway, gotta say "paiseh" to CH & SC la..coz it's kinda like my idea sia...and if u find the food average..paiseh ah. Hehe!

[Suntec] Walked all the way to suntec to c c look look, but SC and CH didnt find any clothes la. Ended up we were hooked up by those toy stores...many Hello Kitty stuffs lo..hehe! The pigs u see above are for charity purpose ba? 20 bucks for 1? paiseh didnt read what it's for..but they are cute lo. Walked over to Millenia Walk for a drink...while i spun 2 capsules for fun..2 cute but pinkish HP accessories..hohoho!
