TV Drama Review #204 - When A Dog Loves A Cat 当狗爱上猫

Zorpia Photo Sharing: Free Unlimited Storage & Bandwidth
No.of Epis: 20
Year/TV Station: 2008/TVB
Cast:
Gallen Lo ~ Miao Zhun (MC)
Myolie Wu ~ Zhou Zi Yu (Chow Chow)
David Lui ~ Zhou Zi Zhan
Margie Tsang ~ Sui Tian Lan
Bernice Liu ~ Wen Zi Qi
Raymond Wong ~ Ying Hai Liang (Carson)
Synopsis: (edited from Wikipedia)
Miao Zhun was once diagnosed with cancer, and his girlfriend was killed in an accident, when she attempted to save a mutt, Big Bus. From that day onwards, Zhun hated dogs and abandoned Big Bus. Zi Yu found Big Bus wandering on the streets and brought him back to her father's kennel. However, Big Bus carried a deadly virus and killed all the German Shepherds in the kennel. Since then, Yu's father became employed with the pound to catch abandoned dogs. Her brother, Zhan & his wife Lan opened a pet shop to earn money for the family.
Yu starts her first day of work at Raptor Advertising Company alongside her boyfriend, Carson & Zhun. Later, Yu finds Small Bus (the younger brother of Big Bus) on the street, and brings him back to the company and promotes him as their advertising icon. Zhun is forced to take Small Bus home and discovers that dogs are not as bad as he thought.
Carson is caught cheating with one of his clients Gloria, and soon Yu and Zhun develop a relationship. Zi Qi, the boss's daughter, returns from the States and is given full responsibility of Raptor. Qi is always finding ways to disturb and annoy Zhun. Later, Qi confesses to Zhun that she has a crush on him for years. Just as Zhun prepares to confess his feelings for Yu, he learns that his cancer has relapsed...
Slacker's review:
Gallen Lo is back! He is one of my fav. TVB actors & I was kinda sad that he left TVB some years ago. Well, I'm glad that he has returned, but his comeback drama "WADLAC" was not very impressive, in terms of plot. I thought the development of the storyline was alright initially, though it's annoying to see how MC treated Small Bus, and the endless quarrels b/w MC & Chow Chow. The storyline got a little better when Chow Chow broke up with Carson, and how MC helped Chow during her difficult times. But, the storyline went downhill as MC refused to admit his feelings for Chow Chow, and went back to his old-self. Ending was kinda rush, and it's kinda ridiculous as MC faked his death. (Well, the real ending was not too bad, though MC really have to die for the 2nd time...) I found some characters contradicting too. For example, Lan, is not a dog lover, but she opened the pet shop & she could not care less for the dogs' well-being, only bothered with her profits & expansion plans. Chow Chow's dad only loved German Shepherds, as they are top breeds, and he hated mutts like crazy just because of that incident. I thought dog lovers are supposed to be fair to all kinds of dogs? Haha..maybe I should not generalise.
Our Gallen seemed to be a little tired here. MC was quite a refreshing character from Gallen as he used to be either a good or bad guy in his past dramas. I liked how MC changed his attitude & behaviour, from a snobbish guy who everybody disliked, to someone who's caring & understanding, and to someone who refused to let ppl beside him from getting hurt. Chemistry b/w Gallen & Myolie was not too bad, though Gallen seemed a little too old for our lady.
Personally, I liked Myolie's characters most of the time, but Chow Chow was too typical for Myolie la, nothing new and kinda boring. (Sometimes, I could not stand characters who are too righteous.) Chow Chow seemed to be too anxious for MC's confession and she kept wanting MC to admit his feelings for her. I was just hoping that Chow Chow would not be so desperate la. Well, though I was not impressed with Myolie's character this time round, I liked her image & hairstyle. (make up was kinda thick though..hehe!)
The most impt couple after MC-Chow is Zhan & Lan. Seriously, their side plot took up a lot of screen time too, and I did not like that. Zhan & Lan were quarrelling most of the time, and I found Lan very ridiculous. Sorry Margie, I just hated your character here. I rather the drama focused more on Bernice & Raymond.
I wondered why Bernice is still a minor support lead up till now. Obviously, TVB does not plan to promote her any time soon. I thought her performance was alright here, though Qi was not a likable character most of the time.
I think Raymond Wong started to act in TVB dramas in 2007, but this is the first time I saw him. (I did not watched his ATV dramas before.) Anyway, he has lots of dramas this year, so do check him out. Well, Carson was a jerk in the drama, though he finally "turned over a new leaf" and became Chow Chow's guardian angel. Raymond's acting was alright, lacked expressions though.
Theme song is "When A Dog Loves A Cat" by Gallen & Myolie. Gallen is a great singer ^_^

Karaoke Session

--Chinatown--
Went to "Ten Dollar Club Family KTV" (rec by Aunt Jo) and sang from 2pm-7pm. Their promo package included free flow of hot & soft drinks, plus a bowl of sharksfin per person. Their promo rates were cheap, $10 nett per pax with a min. charge of $30 nett. There's no GST or other surcharges. Their rooms might be a little rundown, but their ktv facilities were not bad. The songs available were updated, even for Japanese & Korean songs. However, their song library seemed a little lacking though. Accomplishment for the day was to sing "Gee" by Girls' Generation! Luckily Tuan & I were quite familiar with the lyrics...hahaha! Anyway, it's hard to sing Korean songs because there's no romanisation to help me out, unlike some Japanese songs. Haha!
Returned home and bought my first Subway meal. "Hearty Italian" 6-inch bread with roasted beef. I am not familiar with the sauces available, so only chose chili sauce and the person who served me seemed "stunned". Hahaha! The sandwich was not too bad, but I would not say it's super delicious. Wondering why so many ppl are "crazy" about Subway sandwiches. Haha!

P.S: Pizza Hut is returning to Hg Mall!

TV Drama Review #203 - Partner 搭档

No.of Epis: 16
Year/TV Station: 2009/KBS
Cast:
Kim Hyun Joo ~ Kang Eun Ho
Lee Dong Wook ~ Lee Tae Jo
Choi Chul Ho ~ Lee Young Woo
Lee Honey ~ Han Jung Won
Synopsis: (edited from Dramabeans.com)
Kang Eun Ho is a lawyer who works in her father's small lawyer firm in a small town. While she worries that her father, a former judge from drinking too much, she has to take care of her son Jae Dong, who's suffering from an illness. Eun Ho later leaves for Seoul & joins "Lee Kim Attorneys". Lee Tae Jo is a lawyer of "Lee Kim", who dresses in fancy suits, drives a fancy car, flirts with women, and has a flippant attitude with a lot of judges & prosecutors at the courthouse. Han Jung Won, also a lawyer of "Lee Kim", is sharp & professional, and she always rebuffs Tae Jo's advances. Unknown to others, Jung Won is having an affair with Lee Young Woo, who's working in Hae Yoon, a large law firm. Young Woo also happens to be Tae Jo's older brother. Tae Jo is assigned to work with Eun Ho on her first case. Both of them could not stop arguing and bickering, but they worked hand in hand to help their clients. Tae Jo soon finds himself falling for Eun Ho, but he later learns that Eun Ho's deceased husband's death is related to his friend's suicide...
Slacker's Review:
I enjoyed HK lawyer-themed dramas, but I don't think I have watched a Korean one. The biggest draw to "Partner" has to be the two cast, KHJ & LDW. Honestly, the plot was kinda dry, as the cases were not that exciting, and they seemed to drag. But luckily, "Partner" was not a dead serious drama, lots of comedic effects were done through Lee Tae Jo. However, like the usual Korean plot developments, our Tae Jo would not remain that funny for long. Lolz~ The first case had an unexpected twist, and I thought the screenwriter did a good job in showing how Young Woo "won" the case, though Tae Jo & Eun Ho won the case on surface. The most memorable case in "Partner" would have to be Eun Ho vs her univ lecturer. I thought the case made Eun Ho learned a lot. She trusted & respected a lot for her lecturer, but it turned out that her lecturer was someone horrible. I could feel the despair of Eun Ho as her respect & trust for her teacher collapsed. Luckily, the girl get back on her foot after letting off her emotions and went on "war" against her lecturer. The last case was draggy, and it was rushed. We all knew that Tae Jo would be dragged into a case, but it's really too typical la. So, our guy was framed for murdering his friend, but Young Woo finally "liang xin fa xian" and helped his brother in the end.
As for the romance part, I am glad that they did not focused too much on it, though I bet viewers wanted more from Tae Jo & Eun Ho. Haha! The romance part was more focused on Young Woo & Jung Won though, and their ending was sort of expected.
Kim Hyun Joo is one of my fav. actress, and I enjoyed her performance in "Partner". However, Eun Ho was a typical character in lawyer-themed dramas. She's kinda naive, lack of experience & tends to be too emotional. I absolutely loved KHJ's scenes with LDW! Haha! Watching them working & bickering is the main source of entertainment in "Partner", or else I wld fall asleep with the court scenes.
I have not seen Lee Dong Wook after "My Girl", and I thought he has improved a lot. He's much more expressive in "Partner", and I liked his eyes expressions. Tae Jo is someone who tried to "act cool" & had that flippant attitude towards things, but that's just on surface. I liked to see how he changed his attitude & behaviour after working with Eun Ho, and how he showed his affection to her (from unknowingly to "couldn't help it"). The last scene was nicely done, I liked how Eun Ho and Tae Jo clapped their hands, and hold on to each other...as they become partners in both work & life.
I knew Choi Chul Ho was very funny in his previous work "Queen of Housewives" (which I hope SCV wld air it soon), but he's a super serious guy here. Young Woo was that kind of guy who seemed to be evil, but deep down, his personality was not that bad. He had a sad childhood, as his mum chose to leave with Tae Jo, while he was stuck with his "cold-blooded" father. He loved Jung Won very much, but he had to marry his wife for Hae Yoon's business. I thought Young Woo was the most pathetic fella here, as he could not choose anything for himself, even up till the last scene, he became the scapegoat for his father's wrongdoings. Overall, CCH's acting was alright here, since his character was kinda restricted in terms of showing expressions. However, he's quite handsome when he's serious. Haha!
Honey Lee's tv debut was quite impressive. Her acting was not bad, as she really looked very cool & professional as Jung Won. Most of her scenes were related to Young Woo, and we got to see the confident Jung Won broke down into tears for a few times. I thought Jung Won was a pretty lonely person. Her horrible dad finally let go of her after Young Woo's wife paid him a big sum of money, while she could not hold onto Young Woo, who's already married with a kid. In the end, she had Young Woo's child, but she leaves for US alone, without telling the guy that she's pregnant.
OST was alright, Super Junior's sub-team K.R.Y had a song, while Kim Hyun Joo was also featured in the ost.

TV Drama Review #202 - Forensic Heroes II 法政先锋 II

No.of Epis: 30
Year/TV Drama: 2008/TVB
Cast:
Bobby Au Yeung ~ Gao Yan Bo
Frankie Lam ~ Gu Ze Chen
Charmaine Sheh ~ Ma Guo Ying
Kevin Cheng ~ Yang Yi Sheng
Yoyo Mung ~ Liang Xiao Rou
Synopsis: (edited from Wikipedia)
Bomb disposal expert Yang Yi Sheng returns from England to visit relatives and he come across a grenade case by accident. Sheng's skills are highly appreciated by Senior Chemist Yan Bo and he is invited to join the Forensic Division. Sheng soon becomes the division's rising star and he gets back in touch with his long-lost best friend Chen, who is marrying Ding Ding.
During an incident, Ding Ding and Yan Bo's police girlfriend Xiao Rou are caught in an explosion which is meant to kill two drug dealers. Ding Ding dies of her injuries, while Xiao Rou loses movement of her right hand and goes half-deaf. Rou's duties are passed to Guo Ying, who's from the Narcotics Bureau. Both Chen & Sheng find Ying extremely charming with her smart and unfathomable characteristics in case handling. Soon, Sheng falls for Ying & goes all out to win her heart.
Slacker's review:
Forensic Heroes's sequel is back. Though I was anticipating this drama, there were some parts which I did not really liked. First of all, Charmaine replaced Yoyo as the main female lead. (Rumours said Yoyo offended top mgt, so as some sort of punishment, Xiao Rou became support lead instead.) After watching the drama, I thought Charmaine did pretty well, but it's a pity that Xiao Rou's scenes were pathetically few towards the end. Second, there seemed to be loopholes here & there in the plot. I wondered if TVB thought that the viewers were fools. There's a scene where Ding's sister was talking on the phone when she's on the plane. (Hello? Can use hp in plane ah?) Another scene was when Sheng suffered a 40% burnt on his body & face, but very soon, there's only one plaster on his forehead. (40% lo! Shld have continued to cover the whole head ma! Ha!) But overall, "FH2" is still watchable la, the cases were generally interesting, but perhaps only the last case had some twists & turns.
I won't say too much on Bobby, Frankie & Yoyo's performance. They were doing great in the drama, Yan Bo seemed to be more cheerful & cheeky in this sequel. Loved his scenes with Rou. As for Frankie, I thought his emotional scenes were not too bad, it's really sad when Chen lost Ding Ding.
Seriously, Charmaine stole the show. Her character was given developments for us to see another side of Ying. I thought Charmaine did pretty well as Ying switched from a demanding superior, to a nice daughter, to a woman whose fiance was killed, to a woman who found a new love. Her scenes with Kevin & Frankie were good. I thought it would be nice for her to end up with Frankie, but ppl wld start blaming Chen for forgetting Ding so fast. Hehe!
I am always skeptical over Kevin's acting. He's still quite the same, but I did enjoyed his performance in "FH2".
The other funny couple in the drama was Raymond Cho & Florence Kwok. Raymond's Shen Xiong was really damn funny in the show. Haha!
Theme song is "Yi Liu" by Edmond Leung, while insert song "Deng Ni" is sung by Charmaine Sheh.

Dim Sum High Tea Buffet

--Yum Cha @ Chinatown--
My first Dim Sum High-Tea buffet, and my first visit to Yum Cha restaurant. Lots of tourists having their meals there. Met up with CH & HM for our meal. Seriously, I doubted that I could eat alot, since I don't have a big appetite.
Well, the prawn related dishes were very nice, loved the har gaos, fung zao (chicken feet), and prawn/sliced fish cheong funs. There were alot of items which I did not know of...so sua gu. Haha! Luckily there's CH who's more familiar with them. The fried items were not too bad , though I did not like fried stuffs. Ha! Their daily boiled soup was average, while mango pudding could be better.
Overall, paid about 22 bucks for my meal. Not bad la.
Maybe we should have dim sum at some other restaurants next time? Hehe!

TV Drama Review #201 - He Who Can't Marry 不能结婚的男人

No.of Epis:16
Year/TV Station: 2009/KBS
Cast:
Ji Jin Hee ~ Cho Jae Hee
Uhm Jung Hwa ~ Jang Moon Jung
Kim So Eun ~ Jung Yoo Jin
Yoo Ah In ~ Park Hyun Kyu
Synopsis: (edited from KBS World)
Cho Jae Hee, who is in his 40s, is a very stubborn & inflexible architect who's still single. He does not know how to communicate with other people. He is obstinate and never thought of living together with somebody. One day, he comes across a lady doctor, Moon Jung, who is quite similar to himself. After that day, he feels like talking to her and comes out with all sorts of illness in order to see her for consultation. Slowly, he starts to change. He becomes closer to his neighbour Yoo Jin, and is intimate with her dog Sang gu. Jae Hee starts to meddle in people's affairs, and realises the preciousness of people around him.
Slacker's review:
"HWCM" is the Korean version of "Kekkon Dekinai Otoko" starring Abe Hiroshi & Natsukawa Yui. I have not watch the Japanese version before, so I won't be comparing both dramas la. "HWCM" finally proved to me that Ji Jin Hee could act with tons of expressions. Haha! Alright, his characters had been rather serious all these while...so I never find him a very expressive actor. Anyway, the plot followed the original drama quite closely, so the korean elements were kinda missing, which is good. This drama is rather character-driven, as the story was built up by the interactions b/w the characters. The drama was quite comedic, thanks to Cho Jae Hee. Ending was a happy one, though some ppl thought that it's too easy for Jae Hee to accept marriage and to have kids. (Since his mindset & lifestyle have been strictly catered to himself all along). Well, I thought if after all the saga, JH & MJ still did not end up together, that would be too disappointing. Haha!
The most important character in this drama is Cho Jae Hee, as the story & characters revolved around him. CJH is a perfectionist, and he only thinks about himself. He loves eating meat, blasts classical music at home , likes to do miniature sets (buildings/ships), rents dvd during his spare time etc. CJH's fashion sense also became a new fashion trend among Korean guys. Haha! Back to the guy JJH, I loved his expressions here! CJH was really an expressive guy, he would just show all his emotions on his face. I liked to see him how he smiled when he's very happy/excited. JJH's performance was great, though I need to get used to the way he behaved and talk initially. From a very rude and bo chap person, to a guy who realised how it was like to be lonely, and to someone who could made promises & design a house for his love one....JJH portrayed the transition of JH through his solid acting. Thumbs Up!
Like JJH, Uhm Jung Hwa is quite a veteran actress. However, her previous characters did not impress me much. I am glad to see UJH again through Moon Jung, the independent woman, who yearned to be in love. It's a sad situation for women who are in their 40s and still remain single. It's ok for the guys, but the girls would be labelled as "old maids"...and that's pretty unfair huh? I really liked the interactions b/w MJ & JH. They bickered alot initially, as JH kept suan-ing MJ for being a spinster at her age. Ha! From 2 enemies, to friends, to an ambiguous couple, and finally, to a couple with common goals and mindsets....I loved this couple's transition in their relationship. I liked how UJH handled her emotional scenes, as MJ got hurt after JH's comments. (feel like humptump JH whenever he did that to MJ! Haha!)
Nice to see Kim So Eun again after "BOF". She's doing great here! Loved her scenes with her dog Sang gu, and UJH. Her little crush on CJH was funny, but the guy only had eyes for MJ...haha! Yoo Jin did not end up with Hyun Kyu in the end, but I did not mind them remained friends.
Support cast Yoo Ah In & Yang Jung Ah did a good job too. I liked their scenes with their boss CJH. Hahaha!
OST was alright, there are songs sung by Shin Hye Sung (Shinhwa), Ji Jin Hee & Uhm Jung Hwa.

UP + Happy National Day

--UP @ Cine--
Tuan was very interested in this movie after watching the trailer last time. So we went to watch~ There was a short film before the movie started proper, and the animation was so cute. It's about the clouds and their messenger birds. Anyway, I had a good laugh. The movie plot was simple, and not very action-packed. However, it's actually quite a touching movie la, I liked how the movie went silent for a few mins, focusing on how Carl & Ellie met, fell in love, got married, could not have children, continued to live with their dreams, and finally, when Ellie was gone. The funny part started when Russell, the wilderness explorer came into picture. Haha! He's really damn cute la. The real action came in when both of them wanted to save the giant bird Kevin. Overall, the movie was not too bad, but don't go into the cinema with high expectations. Just sit down & enjoy.
Oh ya..bumped into Mr. Lim Swee Say in the lift when we were going to 6th floor for our movie. Aunt Jo & E.W could not recognised him immediately sia~faints!
--Waraku @ Starhub Centre--
Had our lunch cum dinner at one of my favourite Japanese restaurants. Environment was quite noisy, and we even waited for our menus. I thought the services at their other outlets were way better.
My "Ebi Fry Hamburg Wazen" set. I am still wondering why their set meals come with rice & noodles. Haha!
The ebis were tasty and I loved the hamburg steak! とてもおいしい~
Tuan's "Kaisen Yosenabe" with chige soup. The soup tasted good too.
Aunt Jo's "Oyako don" with soba. Interested in the egg~hehe!
--OG--
Initial plan was for Tuan to hunt her heels, but lucky Ching also found something she was looking for. Bought a full leather bag from Santa Barbara Polo & Racquet Club. It can be carried in various ways, and the material was good. Usual price was a little steep, but after discounts & vouchers, the bag was more affordable. Haha! Tuan bought her heels from Americaya la, nice looking too.
--Outside Istana--
While walking over to PS, took a pic of the park opp Istana. It just looked great during National Day.
--PS--
E.W bought a new diamond ring from SK Jewellry, as her belated wedding anniversary gift ah~ Lolz! The salesgirl who served E.W was great, and I haven't seen such a good service for quite sometime. If you wanna earn people's money, this should be the way la. Hehe!
--NDP--
Chiong back home to catch the parade. Actually this year's concept was slightly more simplified. We did not get to see major performances la. However, I liked how our national day songs were remixed & performed by various singers/performers. There were even pop songs from various eras. Ha! The cubical stages were cool! Only disappointment was the fireworks. Kinda boring? Haha! Anyway, that doesn't matter too much la.
Last but not least, HAPPY BIRTHDAY SINGAPORE!

Tuan's Birthday

--Chinatown--
Well, it's Tuan's actual birthday today. Decided to go out with family to have a nice meal at our usual hangout place. Haha! Tuan & I were anticipating our fish porridge, but the uncle said the store would only open on the weekends! Aiyo~ Nvm, I had my fish porridge & yu sheng from another store. We continued to have our desserts at 味香园. Haven't been there for quite sometime.
杨枝甘露...super delicious!
The 马蹄糕 was not too bad too.
--Ion Orchard--
Mr Chean returned home while the three women continued to shop at Orchard. Went over to Ion to check out the new Uniqlo duplex store. Flooded with humans can? It's so hard to walk around la. Tuan only managed to buy a belt from there. The fall/winter clothings were much better than their normal basic stuffs. But well, I think too many ppl wld be wearing on them on the streets. Haha! Walked over to Dunkin' Donuts and bought my "Bavarian filled". Sadly, I think SG's "Bavarian filled" was not as nice as that one I ate in South Korea. "Boston Cream" was delicious too, and I did not know that there's bavarian inside! Yummy~
The branded shops at Ion. The building looked great!
--Kinokuniya @ Ngee Ann City--
Before we had our dinner, went over to Kino as Tuan wanna spend her vouchers. Did not know that there's 20% off store wide. Tuan bought 3 chinese literature novels, and I bet the girl was very happy la. As for me, I nearly bought "纳棺夫日记", which I have asked Tuan to help me buy in Shanghai. Well, the price for the taiwan edition was kinda steep, and Tuan said perhaps Shanghai will have it soon. So hopefully she could help me buy the book soon la. Hehe!
--Pasta Cafe--
Hoho~~~We were back at our favourite restaurant @ NAC.
Tried something new la. This was my "Summer Sunrise", which was made up of watermelon, orange & grapes. I thought the fruits blended well together.
E.W's "C-Power", which was made of green apples & guava. (not sure if there's lime...)
I wanna try something else for my dinner, but in the end, I still picked my favourite Sambal Marinara Spaghetti. The spagh smelled so nice when it was served to us. Hoho!!!! No regrets sia!
Well, I think our birthday girl had a great day....and sorry for my late post. Hehe!

TV Drama Review #200 - Mr. Brain

No.of Epis: 8
Year/TV Station: 2009/TBS
Cast:
Kimura Takuya ~ Tsukumo Ryusuke
Ayase Haruka ~ Yuri Kazune
Mizushima Hiro ~ Hayashida Toranosuke
Notable Guests:
Epi 1: Hirosue Ryoko, Ichikawa Ebizo
Epi 2: Gackt, Koyuki
Epi 3: Kamenashi Kazuya, Aibu Saki
Epi 4-5: Sato Takeru
Epi 5-6: Nakama Yukie
Epi 7-8: Kamikawa Takaya, Ichikawa Ebizo
Epi 8: Katori Shingo
Synopsis: (edited from Dramawiki)
Tsukumo Ryusuke is a quirky, yet brilliant neuroscientist, who's working for the National Research Institute of Police Science. Wielding a unique perspective and psychology, Tsukumo tackles the nation's most baffling crimes and scandals, going head-to-head with the most brilliant and twisted criminal minds. But his eccentricities and poor social timing can also aggravate people and circumstances, further complicating matters.
Slacker's review:
Well, I'm always excited about Kimura's dramas, and "Mr.Brain" did not disappoint me too much, though I did not find it as entertaining as Kimura's previous dramas. Maybe it's because I did not like detective dramas dealing with science. Haha! Overall, the plot was not bad, though some cases tend to be boring. I think TBS wanted to compete with Fuji's "BOSS", so they invited many famous actors/actresses to star as guests in "Mr.Brain". Well, I thought the inclusion of these guests did made me anticipated more for the drama. One thing which was good about "Mr.Brain" was they did not use a standard formula for Tsukumo to solve the cases, unlike Fukuyama's role in "Galileo". So, the drama was not that predictable. Also, there were animated scenes where the cartoon Tsukumo would explain the scientifc explanations for various reactions etc which were linked to the brain. (I thought that's something special ne~)
Kimura was back with his signature long hair, but he seemed to age a little here. Tsukumo is not a difficult character for Kimura to portray, since Kimura can be quite wacky at times. Tsukumo was quite a unique character. His prefrontal cortex was damaged, thus, though he had very high IQ, his appearance and behaviour were kinda odd. However, he's quite a sensitive guy who noticed the slightest details or expressions from others. So actually, Tsukumo was quite a complex character, as he's not easily understood. Haha! There were some interesting stuffs which i rmbed, like how he always had to explain how to pronounce his surname; he liked to read r-rated magazine, and he liked to eat bananas etc. Anyway, I liked Kimura trying on comedic roles, and his acting was hard to fault.
Nice to see Ayase again, though Yuri was very much a supportive role. I liked how Tsukumo made her "confused"...haha! I also liked how Tsukumo motivated Yuri to be a better scientist and continue to upgrade her knowledge. Loved their scenes together...it's really funny. Well, what a pity that there's no romance going on b/w them, though it's quite obvious that Yuri liked Tsukumo. (Maybe we shld have a special soon~)
Mizushima's role was a supportive one too, but I thought he was underused. Seriously, his role was too typical, and we could not expect much from him, in terms of acting.
As for the guests, I thought Gackt & Nakama were impressive! Kamenashi was alright, but his case was quite boring. Sato Takeru did surprised me a little, he's good. His case was quite interesting too. The lamest guest have to be Shingo! Hahaha! What a funny hijacker la! I think he cameo-ed to promote his drama which follows after "Mr.Brain".
Theme song was "Jump" by Van Halen.

The birthday girl.
Anyway, highlights of the party were the impromptu performances by Tuan, her senior from Fudan's Chinese Opera club, and her housemate/sch mate Elaine. Tuan & her senior sang a small part of a Chinese opera piece, and her senior's voice was very good! Of course, I was impressed by Tuan's performance as well, but she needs to train up her voice la. Elaine also sang the chorus of "Ni Guang"...不愧是参加过比赛的人啊~ Haha! (Come to think of it, luckily I was not sabotaged by my friends 2 yrs ago) Phew~
