CNY Day 3: The Great Magician 大魔术师
--Shaw Cinema @ NEX--
Watched my idol Tony Leung's new movie today!!! I was curious how this serious "looking" movie is actually a comedy. Well, director Derek Yee did something refreshing, as the plot of Chinese warlords is normally a serious affair. The movie did not try to be very funny with lame scenes, but the funny portion came from Lau Ching-wan's character, Liu Daniu a.k.a the warlord. Tony's Zhang Xian is someone who did something funny without looking like one. Haha! I liked the 2 actors scenes together. Zhou Xun is more like the 2nd fiddle here and to be honest, she was "underused".
Oh ya..Tony was very handsome when he showed his magic...woohoo!!
--Day 3 CNY dinner--
The usual day 3 event is to go to my aunt's house and have dinner at the tze char stall near her place. This year both my cousins are not around, so it was rather boring, but it's ok.
I doubt I ate a lot, but I felt bloated till now...lolz!

CNY Day 2: Bai Nian thoughts
Went to my relatives' houses today.
I am seeing fewer relatives as time passes by.
Sometimes I thought it's cool to be in those big and closely-knitted families, but then, more people also means more conflicts....
Looking back at my family now, we're in pieces.
It's not a problem actually, better to keep the distance.
Recently, this phrase "forgive & forget" came up on my mind.
I am not someone who can forgive and forget easily.
To forget means I better forget one exists as well.
Then, this word "control" popped out as well.
Mind control is really important.
I could not control my temper well recently, and I knew that I could do it better.
Maybe I am tired, tired of what I am doing.
Tired of people depending on me, tired of people's expectations.
Tired of doing dumb things, tired of explaining.
How come my CNY post become so emo? Lolz~!
One more free day to go before I return to battlefield!

CNY Day 1: Titanic-The Artifact Exhibition
--ArtScience Museum @ MBS--
Finally visited the Titanic artifact exhibition with Tuan earlier today. It's a pity that no photography is allowed. To be honest, there are not many artifacts to see, but the whole exhibition brought Titanic close to our eyes. I really thought I was in it! Haha!
This is my boarding pass.
At the back of it states the name of the passenger, her background, who she came with and where she stayed inside the passenger liner. I did not check if this lady managed to survive or not as there are simply too many names to look at. I wished she did, as she stayed in the first class cabin. Higher chances to survive....(I just checked Wiki and they have the list of all the passengers. Both passengers (on Tuan and my boarding passes) actually survived the tragedy! Cool!
The exhibition is split into several sections, Construction gallery, Verandah Cafe, First Class Stateroom, The Grand Staircase, Third class quarters/hallway, Iceberg gallery, memorial gallery, discovery gallery and Singapore 1912.
Personally, I like the sections from first class passenger rooms to the Promenade. It's as if you're on the deck watching the sea and the starry sky. Content wise, I think it's sufficient for ordinary folks like us. It's more like a "story-telling" session of the whole tragedy, so don't expect too much on artifacts.
Overall, the exhibition is quite different from the rest I've seen. Worth the time spent.

TV Drama Review #327 - Ghetto Justice 怒火街头
No.of Eps: 20
Yr/TV Stn: 2011/TVB
Cast:
Kevin Cheng ~ Luo Li Ya
Myolie Wu ~ Wang Si Ku
Sam Lee ~ Ding Jia Fu
Joyce Tang ~ Di Wu Ting
Sharon Chan ~ He Li Jing
Synopsis:
Luo Li Ya used to practice law for personal fame and glory but after setting up a Legal Advice Centre with his cousin GEORGE MIKE JR. and his good friend Ting Jia Fu in Sham Shui Po, Li Ya changes his mind and realises that legal representation is not only a privilege of the rich. Soon, Li Ya becomes the People’s Hero of Sham Shui Po, helping grassroots groups fight against injustice with unconventional tactics. On the other hand, barrister Wong Si Ku, who used to admire Li Ya for his invincible performances, starts to disdain him for downgrading to a ghetto lawyer. However, after a few court cases with him, the two start to appreciate each other and fall in love. Besides succeeding in her relationship, Si Ku tries to become an elite practitioner in town. In order to gain advancement, she seizes every chance to get close to the renowned barrister Jiang Bo Qi. Si Ku is embroiled in a lawsuit. In order to save Si Ku, Li Ya has no choice but to challenge the law.
Why should you watch?
Kevin Cheng's performance finally justified his win for the best actor award last yr. Kevin transformed from his clean & rich handsome guy image to a lawyer who dressed shabbily and looked more like a gangster. Lolz! Kevin's portrayal of Luo Li Ya was very natural and convincing. Chemistry with Myolie was great too.
Myolie brought life to her character, Wang Si Ku, but I think she still need to improve on her acting.
Support cast was great. Joyce Tang and Sam Lee were very good in their roles, but Sharon Chan outshine them with her prostitute role. Sharon was always a supporting actress but this drama gave her a chance to show us that she could act well. Good job!
Why you should not watch?
Can't find a reason :p

TV Drama Review #326 - Boku to Star no 99 Nichi 我和明星的99日
No.of Eps: 9
Yr/TV Stn: 2011/FujiTV
Cast:
Nishijima Hidetoshi ~ Namiki Kohei
Kim Tae Hee ~ Han Yuna
Kaname Jun ~ Hashizume Kazuya
Sasaki Kuranosuke ~ Takanabe Yamato
Taecyeon ~ Teson
Synopsis: (edited from Dramawiki)
So close and yet so far away...An inconspicuous body guard Namiki Kohei is assigned to be a body guard for a mega Korean super star, Han Yuna. Kohei is less than ordinary, a single man almost 40 and working part time at a security company. Despite his kind and attractive looks, he is surrounded by people who boss him around with unreasonable demands. He keeps a dream to himself, a desire to someday become an astronomer and find his very own star. He justifies not being able to fulfill this dream to lack of funds and issues with his family. Han Yuna, on the other hand, while having a perfect face and body, loves to eat junk food. She also has a kind heart for helping others in need. While every aspect of her life may seem like a girl's dream come true, she feels a certain solitude being in the entertainment industry. As Kohei and Han Yuna come closer and closer to each other, they become an inseparable couple, discovering true love...
Why should you watch?
This is Kim Tae Hee's first full length Japanese drama, plus one of my favourite Japanese actor Nishijima. If you like 2PM's Taecyeon...then this is a must watch. His performance was better than I expected. Kim Tae Hee's acting quite convincing, but listening to her Japanese lines made her sound a little unnatural. However, I still respect her for acting in Japanese.
Why you should not watch?
The plot is standard and cliched. We already know what wld happen to a superstar-bodyguard love story when rumours are flying everywhere. There would always be a hero, in this case, Takanabe, but he would never get the female lead's love.
Nishijima's performance was not his best, perhaps the character does not suits him. Or maybe I was too used to see Nishijima is more serious roles. His chemistry with Kim Tae Hee was okay, but not great. Anyway the drama was too short for them to build up the chemistry.

TV Drama Review #325 - Kaseifu no Mita 家政妇三田
No.of Eps: 11
Yr/TV Stn: 2011/NTV
Cast:
Matsushima Nanako ~ Mita Akari
Hasegawa Hiroki ~ Asuda Keiichi
Aibu Saki ~ Yuki Urara
Kutsuna Shiori ~ Asuda Yui
Nakagawa Taishi ~ Asuda Kakeru
Ayabe Shuto ~ Asuda Kaito
Honda Miyu ~ Asuda Kii
Synopsis: (from dramawiki)
Mita Akari is a mysterious housekeeper who is completely unsociable. However, she is perfect in her housework and does whatever she is told, no matter how outlandish, as long as it doesn't involve smiling or revealing her past. She's been dispatched to the Asuda household where plenty of problems await, as the children have recently lost their mother and their father lacks confidence in his own role.
Slacker's review:
"Kaseifu" is Japanese dramaland's miracle last year. Last epsiode hit 40% ratings, and no other dramas had this record after Kimura's "Beautiful Life" in 2000. Matsushima finally claimed back her "Queen of drama" title.
"Kaseifu" looked like some ordinary family-related drama of a problematic family with a weird housekeeper. The drama's mysterious aura was kept very well up till the final episode. Mita's story was sad, and the scriptwriter did not let it unfold at one go. As every episode passed, the mysterious factor built up and and we were "forced" to watch the next episode, hoping to find out more about Mita and the family. The plot was really good.
I bet Matsushima had a hard time being expressionless throughout the whole drama. This is difficult acting. Mita spoke like a robot, and she's like a heartless human being with no feelings. Her speech was formal and standard, and at times I really thought she's not a real human being. Lolz~ Finally we got to see the more humane side of Mita, but too bad, she returned to her old self when she moved on to a new family. Excellence performance by Matsushima and it's great to have a back with a lead role.
Hasegawa is not a A lister, but his daddy role is very important in this drama. (He's the male lead~). Hasegawa portrayed Asuda very well. A father who had an affair, and later chased out by his kids. He learnt his lesson and became a better & responsible father.
Aibu Saki's Urara is the supporting female lead, and her character was not really focused in depth. Too bad I found her acting still the same. Aibu need to have a new image or else she is stuck at the same stage.
The kiddos - Kutsuna, Nakagawa, Ayabe and Honda did a good job acting as the Asuda children. Their acting were natural and convincing.
A drama not to be missed.

The first week of 2012 is nearly over, and I worked OT everyday.
I am back at my hunting mode.
I have not worked hard enough to hunt for a job last year, so I need to work harder this year.
Hopefully I can find another job soon.
