TV Drama Review #58 - Life Made Simple 阿旺新传

Episodes: 32
Yr of telecast/TV Stn: 2005/TVB
Main Cast:
Roger Kwok ~ Ding Chang Wang
Jessica Hsuan ~ Huang Qi Feng
Bosco Wong ~ Zhong Zi Cong
Leila Tong ~ An Qi
Angela Tong ~ Li Xiao Hao
Raymond Cho ~ Luo Qu Cheng
Summary: Ah Wang is a thirty-year-old man with an IQ of a little boy. However, he seems to finds ways to make everyone around him happy. When Ah Wang was in school, nobody wanted to play with him because they thought he was stupid, but Qi Feng accepted him. Ah Wang remembered playing "jia jia jiu" with her. He would always play the father and she would play the mother. Thus, the name "Lao Po Zai"/"Xiao Xi Fer" was born!
Many years had passed, the 2 of them are still very close. Feng used Ah Wang's golden coins to pay her school fees and left for US to complete her studies.
Feng met An Qi in US and happened to go to the same company Jone's Intl for interview. Feng met Zi Cong, who was frequently rumoured to date stars and was known to be a playboy. On the other hand, An Qi liked Zi Cong and tried to sarbotage Feng, but this did not stop Zi Cong from falling for Feng. Ah Wang later got a job in Jone's with the help of the chairmain of Jone's, without knowing Zi Cong's dad, Zhong Jin Rong, was actually his own dad too. During an incident, Ah Wang was shot by a bullet and had to do a brain operation. Feng decided to marry him so that he would have the spirit to fight on. Finally, Ah Wang's wish came true by marrying Feng, but life didnt go easy on him. Qu Cheng also fell for Feng while Feng decided to give a shot for her career by working overseas. Ah Wang created a "Lao Po Tang Wan" to remember Feng and carved out his career. Feng finally gave him a call...
Comments: Let's forget about "Square Pegs", then u will not be that disappointed la. Anyway, there's no links between the 2 also. Plot wise, the first few epis were considered boring to me, coz' it didnt give me the drive to continue watching it. It started to pick up after Feng returned from US ba, and i was kinda rooting for Feng & Zi Cong, but not for long. Plot began to go downhill again when Feng decided to leave Ah Wang & did all those "silly stuffs" to make Wang let go of her. Haiz....i really dont like that part of the drama, Ah Wang was pitiful, though he's quite a nuisance at times. So overall, you must have the patience to view the lousy parts first before watching the happy ones. Lolz!
Acting wise, had to give Roger credits la. Not every actor is suitable or is able to act such a role. Though i dun like his hairstyle, he's really the soul person in the drama. Jessica was alright la, but dunno why she looked kinda old in the drama. Bosco's character was much serious than his usual roles, a good try but I think he's not suitable for such roles la. Thank goodness he accepted Ah Wang towards the end of the drama, or else i may end up disliking Zi Cong lo. Leila Tong's performance was good actually, tho she's not the sweet girl la. My impression of her changed as she could really be quite "evil", tt means gd acting. Hope to see her more often in TVB dramas lo. The other support cast plus Angela Tong did a good job, without them i guessed the drama wld be more boring. Like to see Bro Rui & Ah Lian (Wang's mum) together, funny couple. Hehe!
Ratings: 7.5/10 (If only the plot is better lah, and i hope TVB wont have so many sequels which are super worse than the original ones. )

TV Drama Review #52 - War of in-laws 我的野蛮奶奶

Episodes: 20
Yr of telecast/TV Stn: 2005/TVB
Main Cast:
Lisa Wang ~Xitala Shuo Lan
Myolie Wu ~ Tian Li (Shiyi)
Bosco Wong ~ Ning Mao Chun/Bu Liu Ming
Shi Xiu ~ Ning Feng De/Bro Yun
Wu Yong Wei ~ Long Qiao Qiao
Summary: Princess Shuo Lan was the cousin of the current Empress in the Ching Dynasty. She's an arrogant woman who abused her status to get whatever she wanted. Even her mother-in-law as to give way to her and she called shots in Ning family. Shiyi and her bandit family were running away from the guards when she pretended to be a bride and got carried away to Ning family and was forced to marry Shuo Lan's only son Mao Chun. Nobody knew her true identity as the Ning family thought she was "xiu nv" from the Emperor. Though Shiyi didnt dislike Mao Chun, she was rather disappointed with him as Mao Chun was a mummy's boy and weak in nature. Just then, "Bu Liu Ming", a thief who robbed the rich to help the poor saved Shiyi twice. Shiyi fell for him instantly becoz' of his heroic acts. However, it happened that "Bu Liu Ming" was Mao Chun in disguise. He was jealous of himself as Shiyi liked "Bu Liu Ming" instead of him.
Soon, Shiyi's real identiity was known and Shuo Lan wanted to throw her out of the house, just then, Mao Chun lied and said Shiyi was pregnant. Thus, chaos continued till Shiyi's fake pregnancy was revealed. Shuo Lan decided to take revenge by faking ill and got Shiyi to take care of her. Shuo Lan decided to get Mao Chun to have a concubine so as to revenge on Shiyi. It happened to be Ling Shan, who was the daughter of Mao Chun's master.
On the other hand, Shiyi's aunt Qiao Qiao has been waiting for her bro Yun for 20 yrs. Finally she met him in the capital, but he was Shuo Lan's husband now! Shuo Lan couldnt accept Qiao Qiao and Feng De's past and decided to chase the bandits out of the capital. Things got worse and Ning family lost everything. Shuo Lan was thrown out by Feng De's evil brothers and had to fend for herself alone.
Mao Chun decided to clear his mum's name by finding out the real mastermind of the fire at the boat, but got himself into trouble as his "Bu Liu Ming" identity was revealed.
Comments: A very entertaining drama. Storyline was very comedy and funny until the last few epis, to be exact, after Qiao Qiao met Feng De. The storyline went downhill a little and the plot was kinda rushy towards the end. I really like the chemistry b/w Lisa Wang, Myolie; Myolie & Bosco. Towards the end, it's kinda weird that the princess realised her faults and refused to return home. Also, Mao Chun's master betrayed him after Ling Shan died. The twist was abit too sudden lah. TVB's ending epi can be very lame sometimes, not an exception here as well, basically after they saved Mao Chun, the ending was kinda out of way la. Lolz!
Acting wise, Lisa Wang really deserved to be the best actress in 2005. She really gave her best shot and acted as the arrogant princess. Her gestures and expressions were very vivid. And of coz, our daughter-in-law Myolie was full of expressions too. Her acting was a little exaggerating, but that's really fun lah! Bosco's Mao Chun was ok lah, but i preferred his "bu liu ming", very handsome with tt mask lo. Hahahah! Shi Xiu and other support cast did a good job too, though i dun like his 2 brothhers and their wives.
I was rooting for Shiyi & Mao Chun couple. How i wish there are more scenes with the 2 of them!
The themesong by Lisa, Myolie & Bosco was super nice lah! There's a little rapping element with a traditional chinese music background. Really stylo!
Ratings: 9.5/10 (Although the last few epis really kinda spoilt the mood, it's definitely a must-watch for TVB fans ah! Cannot miss ah!)

TV Drama Review #44 - Fantasy Hotel 开心宾馆

Episodes: 20
Yr of telecast/TV Stn: 2005/TVB
Main Cast:
Tao Da Yu ~ Gan Zhi Jie
Melissa Ng ~ Weng Jia Wen
Wayne Lai ~ Han Shan
Tang Wen Long ~ Gao Xiang
Summary: Gan Zhi Jie & Han Shan are well-known tour guides in the travel industry. They had been through ups & downs in their careers and now they work in John's travel agency, who used to work under them. Jia Wen is a lucky housewife who has a good husband & she has nv work before. She decided to find job as a tour guide bringing eco-tours, but ended up she became trainee besides Zhi Jie & Han Shan who bring tours from China. The two guys disliked Jia Wen initially coz' she always brought trouble to them. Jia Wen soon found out that her husband Alex had an external affair with his personal assistant and decided to file for divorce. She also realised her ex-classmate Qiao Chu is Han Shan's girlfriend. Guang Kai, the owner of Wang Jin Hotel asked Jia Wen to work in his hotel. Soon, the hotel got into a fire and Guang Kai decided to give the ownership to the three as a gift for his gratitude. The hotel kept making losses while Han Shan & Zhi Jie's relationship turned sour becoz' of Qiao Chu. Guang kai's god-son Gao Xiang came to HK and was interested in Jia Wen, who fell for Zhi Jie. See how the hotel survived through its crisis and back on track again.
Comments: First impression, it's another lame drama. Basically u can break the drama up into 2 parts. Firstly, when the cast are still working as tour guides, and when they are working in the hotel. Honestly, the first few epis were lame & funny. The plot was not that bad as i thought, just that i couldnt stand any parts with Qiao Chu in it. She simply sux..but i must say that the actress did a gd job, so gd that i hate this character. Lolz! The plot started to go downhill towards the middle, when the 2 bros fought and became enemies. It started to pick up again when they were given the task to save the hotel. Though the plot was still quite lame at times, the mood was more serious with some touching parts. (like how uncle kai married his wife) The plot was quite honest with what we know in reality, tour guides cheating in order to earn more. I really laughed at the part when the 2 bros acted as Kuwaiti princes and told the tourists their "sad story" and asked them to buy jewellry etc. The impression given to me was those China tourists were too rich and they had a very big spending power. (which is very true)
Tao Da Yu was the right man to act as Zhi Jie. He's naggy but he wld go all out to help his friends. I always lol when i saw him nagging or scolding ppl with his hand moving up and down. I am glad that i saw something new from him. Wayne Lai's Han Shan was not a perfect character here. He's only pride was to have Qiao Chu as his galfren, and he always obey her commands. He's always waiting for easy money...very typical lazy bums in the society. His acting is terrific and i can tell u it seems easy to act such characters, but it's not so. Melissa Ng's Jia Wen was quite a sotong character. Melissa always looked rather classy in other dramas, this character simply changed my impression of her. I wont say there's a lack of chemistry b/w Melissa & Mr Tao, but it's not very strong. Supporting cast was rather excellent...without them, i wont get to laugh so much. Lol!
Ratings: 7/10 (the plot cld have been better...)

TV Drama Review #42- The Prince's Shadow 御用闲人

Zorpia Photo Sharing: Free Unlimited Storage & Bandwidth

Episodes: 20
Yr of telecast/TV Stn: 2005/TVB
Main Cast:
Adam Cheng ~ Gao Sheng
Tavia Yeung ~ Ru Yi
Deng Cui Wen ~ Su San
Marco Ngai ~ Emperor Qian Long
Joyce Tang ~ Empress
Wu Jia Le ~ Zhou Ri Qing
Summary: Gao Sheng is a personal attendant working for Emperor Qian Long. He practically did everything for his majesty, but did not gain any official status or post. One day, Ru Yi was in Sheng's room when she hit Qian Long on his head. From that moment onwards, Qian Long fell for Ru Yi at first sight, and asked Gao Sheng to create chances for them to meet. Soon, Empress found out and ordered Ru Yi to return home. However, Ru Yi was sold to Yang Zhou by the chief eunuch. Qian Long ordered Gao Sheng & Zhou Ri Qing to go to Yang Zhou to bring Ru Yi back. The two guys could not save Ru Yi due to lack of finance and got into trouble as Ri Qing's cousin misused his emperor guard status. Su San, the owner of Wan Hua Lou bought Ru Yi over and Ru Yi decided to stay there as she did not want to return to capital. Qian Long and Empress soon came to Yang zhou respectively, and Gao Sheng found out about Qian Long's real background....
Comments: A nice drama from TVB. Adam Cheng never fails to bring laughters in his drama. The plot was decent and interesting 80% of the time. I dont really like to see what happened b/w Gao Sheng & Qian Long in the end though, kinda spoilt the mood leh. As usual, cant expect much character developments from TVB dramas, but i like all characters except Mr Qian Long. Tuan & I used to call him "Mickey Mouse" becoz' that's how Marco Ngai looked when he smiled. Hahaha! I definitely think he is not suitable for this role, coz he made Qian Long looked like a fool, always dependent on Gao Sheng to do things. Kinda tarnished other Qian Longs'images in other dramas la. Personally, Adam Cheng & Ms Deng had the chemistry together, but i dont see the same when he is with Tavia. Maybe Tavia is too young for him la. Hah! Joyce Tang looked elegant as the empress, really pretty lo.
Ratings: 7.5/10 (Qian Long is really a lousy emperor here. Plot went downhill towards ending, quite a pity. )

TV Drama Review #34 - Revolving doors of Vengeance 酒店风云

Episodes: 30
Yr of telecast/TV stn: 2005/TVB
Main Cast:
Joe Ma ~ Martin Gao Feng
Kenix Kwok ~ Becky Gu Bi Qi
Ron Ng ~ Wang Qi Jie
Ella Kwan ~ Li Kai Xin
Jiang Da Wei ~ Zheng Yong Fa
Yao Zi Ling ~ Zheng Ke Er
Summary: Royal Court Hotel was already in crisis when Martin took over it and became the largest shareholder in the director board. The founder of the hotel Wang Yu Ting died in an accident, and his 3 incapable sons could not handle the hotel matters. His 3rd son Qi Jie was released from jail and had a bad relationship with his 2 elder brothers. On the other hand, their cunning uncle Zheng Yong Fa tried many ways to return to the director board, hoping to gain control of the hotel. Martin decided to get rid of the 3 brothers after he became CEO and his motive was to revenge for his father, who was missing for 20 yrs. Actually, Martin's real motive was to unite the 3 brothers and then return the hotel to them. Thus, he could fulfil Wang Yu Ting, his benefactor's last wishes. However, Qi Jie mistook him and hated him very much; revealed Martin's prisoner background and spoilt his plans to build Dong Shan Gdns. Martin did not want to lose to Qi Jie and decided to forsake his promise to Wang Yu Ting and took revenge on Qi Jie. Qi Jie and Martin were plotting their own revenge, but actually they were targeting at Zheng Yong Fa. Martin and Becky's relationship wld be affected as Martin realised Becky's son was not his. Ke Er, on the other hand, got in between Qi Jie & Kai Xin, and sabotaged Kai Xin at the workplace.
Comments: One of the better dramas by TVB. The plot was refreshing, and if u have not read the synopsis, you wld be caught by surprise wor. The plot had many twists & turns, so it was quite interesting as u could not believe in what u see intially. But then, the twists would be pretty obvious as the drama came to a close. No kick ah. Of coz, there were flaws here and there, like when the 3 bros or the hotel faced difficulties, they would solved them rather easily. It's not convincing la. Also, the plot made the 3 bros quite dumb sometimes, like how they believed in things without thinking.
Basically TVB dramas' characters' development was kinda limited la, nothing in depth. So acting wise, the actors' acting was zhong gui zhong ju. Ron's acting was still quite green to me, he did not show much expressions. His character Qi Jie is that kind of man i would keep scolding while watching the drama. haha! First time see Ella Kwan, not bad for a newbie. She brought Kai Xin to life lah and she's really a pretty lady. As for Kenix, her acting was good enough, but nothing new to offer. Perhaps her character was not very challenging and though she was the female lead in this drama, her character was actually the "supporting cast" to me. Actually, her character was rather a contradicting one. I really think she was dumb enough to plot against Martin in the later part of the drama. That's a dumb move. Joe Ma is the man in this drama, his character had some depth, and he had convincing expressions; cunning, loving, worried, happy etc. However, the plot made Joe's character like a "shen xian", he's like a spy in every places, could forsee who did what or what they were planning. Kinda unrealistic ya..
The only 2 characters i really hated from the start was Mr Zheng and his precious daughter. Really feel like slapping them..lol!
Hacken Lee's themesong "Xin Ji" was nice to listen too.
Rating: 10/10 (Though some parts of the drama were kinda unrealistic or kinda lame, it's definitely a must watch becoz' the plot was really not bad. Dont miss it!)

TV Drama Review #27 - The Herbalist's Manual 本草药王

Zorpia Photo Sharing: Free Unlimited Storage & Bandwidth

Episodes: 25
Yr of telecast/TV Station: 2005/TVB
Main Cast:
Frankie Lam -- Li Shi Zhen
Michelle Ye -- Dong Qing
Selena Lee -- Wu Mu Rong
Kenneth Ma -- Pang Xian
Summary: Li Shi Zhen was born into a herbalist family of 3 generations. He wanted to pursue medicine like his father, but his father strongly object as he wanted him to become a scholar, in order to marry his fiancee Mu Rong, who has a rich background. Shi Zhen met Dong Qing, who was known as the "medicine goddess" as she cured many patients secretly. They became very good friends and soon liked each other. However, things didnt work well for them. Shi Zhen eventually married Mu Rong and Dong Qing could only be their friends, while she's jealous of Mu Rong. Pang Xian was the son of an imperial official & a student in the imperial medicine college. He fell for Mu Rong, but realised that she was Shi Zhen's wife later. He didnt like Shi Zhen intially as he liked to use many "unknown" herbs to cure patients, but soon after that, he decided to be Shi Zhen's disciple and learn from him. Shi Zhen got into trouble as he offended Yan Song, an evil court official...
Comments: A not-very-interesting drama. Plot was the usual standard tvb style type la, nothing much to say. However, it's kinda plain to me. Acting wise, it's average. The characters are also quite plain, nothing to spice up the whole drama. In chinese, it's "zhong gui zhong ju". Wont recommend to TVB fans coz' it's nt really worth watching. Personally , i dont like Dong Qing. She should stop her feelings for Shi Zhen since he had Mu Rong, and dont hurt Mu Rong's feelings mah. She knew it, but she cant stop it. What's the point leh? The supporting cast was quite plain too, no character was unique enough to spice up the drama.
Ratings: 6.5/10 (Too plain, but at least it's not a crap show.)

TV Drama Review #23 - The Gateau Affairs 情迷黑森林

Zorpia Photo Sharing: Free Unlimited Storage & Bandwidth

Episodes: 20
Yr of Telecast/TV Station: 2005/TVB
Main Cast:
Joe Ma -- Gao Gen
Myolie Wu -- Tang Shuang
Bobo Chan -- Coco
Annie Man -- Sha La
Hu Nuo Yan -- Sun Yu Le
Summary: Gao Gen, an ex-convict, was a very famous patissier who had a broken marriage and unable to fight for his son's custody. He also became "Cake Robinhood" by giving cakes to kids from single-parent families. His nickname in Gateux was "frosty hands" as his hand temperature was lower than normal people, thus he's able to make many delicious chocolate cakes.
Tang Shuang was the daughter of Tang Sen, who owned "Sen Ji" washing shop. He blamed his wife for leaving them to pursue her dream as a patissier & lied to Shuang & her bro Zhan that their mum was dead. Tang Shuang's cake shop "Dream factory" was burnt down accidentally by Yu Le, but she mistook Gen as the person behind it. Thus, she decided to take revenge on Gen & joined Gateux as a trainee. After seeing how Gen treated his son Bin Bin & that he's the robinhood who had encouraged her, Shuang decided to buck up and learn from him.
Shuang's mum, Qin Hui Xiang came back to HK with her sister. Now known as Qu Qi, she had lost all her memories after an attempt suicide in France. Gen let her stay in his house as he caused her sister to land in coma state. Gen realised that she could bake cakes during sleepwalking and soon afterwards, he found out that she was the "pastry queen" from france & she was Shuang's mum.
Shuang confessed to Gen that she likes him but he rejects her, fearing that history would repeat itself. However, after the Gateux newcomer competition, Gen decided to accept her. In order to let the past patissier Paul to return to Gateux, Sha La started to create things up to break up Shuang & Gen's relationship. Shuang believed Sha La & thought Gen was only using her and Qu Qi, thus decided to trash Gen during a cake competition. Just then, Shuang was hit by the lightning and suffered from the side effects.
Comments: Oh! I just love this drama. This "get hooked" feeling is back again! Simply cant wait for the next episode to show! Hahaha! The plot was average actually, but the characters added colours to it. Also, it adopted some "japanese culture" by showing how the characters felt while eating a cake, or when Shuang was day dreaming. Very cute scenes! It was a little exaggerating but you wont detest these little details. I simply like all the characters except Sha La, and to some extent, Yu Le. Haha! One big draw was the cakes shown in the drama, all looked so delicious and delicate, you dont feel like eating them. Some reviews commented that Joe Ma looked old with Myolie, i do agree but they are still a compatible pair to me. Haha! Even empress Wang watched every episodes...can see it's a nice show lah.
Ratings: 9/10 ( Near perfect, though i think the last 5 epis kinda spoilt the mood of the drama coz' Shuang is back for revenge again...and realised that she's wrong again...Also, the ending was kinda rush. I dont mind if there are 5 more epis leh. Haha! )

TV Drama Review #19 - Just Love 老婆大人

Zorpia Photo Sharing: Free Unlimited Storage & Bandwidth

Web: http://tvcity.tvb.com/drama/just_love//story/

Episodes: 20

Year of Telecast /TV Station: 2005 / TVB

Main Cast:

Jessica Hester Hsuan -- Gao Xi Min

Sunny Chan -- Ge Guo Guang

Dave Wong -- Dai Zhi Xiong

Patrick Tang -- Su Ya Ji

Summary: Xi Min is a magistrate who is capable at work, but fails completely as a wife & mother. Her husband Guo Guang gave up his high-pay job to become "houseman" & took care of their baby. Also, he signed a "pre-marriage" contract and abided the rules set by Xi Min, who suffered from a broken family. Guo Guang's parents who lived in the village didnt know that he became "wife's slave" and that he signed that contract. They were very angry as he disgraced his family & couldnt accept Xi Min's "da nv ren" attitude. Guo Guang decided to break the contract by venturing into biz with his friend. Xi Min thought Guo Guang as an affair with his secretary, so she decided to become a nice wife to win him back, without knowing that this was actually "set-up" by Guo Guang's dad and Ya Ji. Xi Min was angry when the truth was revealed and became close to her ex-boyfriend, Zhi Xiong who is also a magistrate. Guo Guang became jealous and suspicious of them. Things got worst when Zhi Xiong decided to woo back Xi Min & Guo Guang had another scandal again....

Comments: A "tiring" drama...coz Xi Min always gets angry with Guo Guang & his family, though there were some happy or light-hearted scenes b/w Zhi Xiong & Guo Guang's sis Bao Yi & the romance b/w Shi San Gong & Xi Min's friend. I really dont like Xi Min this character. She really sucks man. Hahaha! The plot is typical TVB drama, so average lor. I really felt sorry for the pathetic Guo Guang..your're the best man! Saying about actors now. Ms Hsuan had acted some similar characters in the recent yrs...i dont really find anything new with her acting style. Though she's suitable for such "da nv ren" characters, i really hope she wld pick up some drastic roles lor..or else she would always remain at that spot, no improvements. Sunny is back! Like him since "O Ji Shi Lu". He acted well as Guo Guang, a bit blur blur look but a super nice houseman! Bravos! Dave Wong..or Wang Jie , the ex-singer we knew, acted well as Zhi Xiong. He's quite funny at times la..especially with Bao Yi. Not bad wor! The other characters were alright..thanks to them..or else i might just get disgusted with Xi Min. Lol! Really find this character irritating and unreasonable, always saying what law which line to other ppl. Also, she always find fault on others but she didnt realised herself is a big fault...really headache sia.

Rating: 6/10 (Plot is standard, dont like Jessica's character, though Sunny's did a gd job, so cant give a very high rating. It's really tiring to listen to her unreasonable stuffs everyday.)

TV Drama Review #18 - The Gentle Crackdown 秀才遇着兵

Zorpia Photo Sharing: Free Unlimited Storage & Bandwidth

Episodes: 20
Year of Telecast/ TV Station: 2005 / TVB
Main Cast:
Shui Dong Lou - Moses Chan
Lu Shi Yi - Niki Chow
Flying Eagle/Jin Ying - Mi Xue
Shi Qi Wang - Li Yao Xiang
Lu Xiu Gu - Tan Xiao Huan
Summary: Shui Dong Lou was the new magistrate of Liangcai County, clever and righteous. He solved cases using his wits & unique working style, and of course with his best partner, Shiyi mei. Shiyi, on the other hand, was an impulsive but righteous constable, proud of her father & live with her principles to wei min chu hai. She didnt realise that her mum Jin Ying was actually the famous bandit Flying Eagle, who stole money from the rich & distributed to the poor & killed corrupted officials. She didnt have a good impression of Dong Lou initially, thus the two kept bickering with each other. As time passed by, Shiyi became fond of Dong Lou, who had a fiancee in the capital. Advisor Shi was actually a corrupted character & often ganged up with other constables to corrupt money & bully people. However, he turned into a good guy after working with Dong Lou. He used to dislike Xiu Gu (Shiyi'a aunt) coz she was an avid gambler. After knowing the truth of her circumstances, he fell for Xiu Gu & they became another funny couple.
Comments: Initially, I was disappointed with this drama coz' it's practically a lame show. However, thanks to the plot, I really enjoyed the drama. The interactions between Dong Lou & Shiyi were very funny. The drama got a little serious at the later part but it doesnt miss out the comedy factor. Moses Chan's acting was quite exaggerating but it made his character really funny. Niki fitted well as Shiyi, clearly acted out Shiyi's impulsiveness & how Shiyi reacted when she became fond of Dong Lou. The other supporting actors were equally good in the drama; I am glad that Advisor Shi wasnt a bad character lah. The only flaw was the theme song sang by Niki & Moses, just simply not nice lah.
Ratings: 8.5/10 (Light-hearted comedy with reasonable plot just brighten my day. I like super funny dramas)

Tv Drama Review 8 - SAH, AR4, TWF

[惊艳一枪 Strike at Heart] TVB Actors: Ma De Zhong, She Shi Man, Chen Jin Hong, Wen Song Xian, Chen Song Ling, Ou Jin Tang
TVB havent show this drama yet, watched it from rental dvds. The cast is grand lah...but the story plot was average. Joe Ma's character in this drama is sucky again..alamak! and i hate Mr Ou for nearly 3/4 of the drama. Hahaha! The only funny couple is Chen Jin Hong & Wen Song Xian. Chen Song Ling is a support role here, though i like her dressings in this drama. Plot was about 3 "brothers" & Ou Jin Tang kept thinking that Joe Ma was bad because of misunderstandings. Sickening fella! Chen Jin Hong was a shu sheng while Joe Ma was a general ba. So can see that Mr Chen is the "middle man" b/w the 2 guys and Charmaine Sheh was their common love interest. Well, Charmaine's character was average too, nothing new. I guess there's not much tu po for the above actors lah, sad to say. Overall it is still watchable. Ending not very good lah..as expectable..somebody has to die somehow.
[陀枪师姐4 Armed Reaction 4] TVB Actors: Ou Yang Zheng Hua, Cai Shao Fen, Wei Jun Jie, Teng Li Ming, Lin Wen Long, Meng Jia Hui etc
Series 4 liao..added 2 new characters Frankie Lam & Yoyo Mung. This series was rather sad in the middle part when Marco Ngai was injured, then missing. Joyce Teng suffered quite abit here lah, but i found san yuan to be quite beautiful in this drama..coz joyce had long hair. Hahaha!
The forever happy- go- lucky guy Bobby Au Yeung broke up with Ada Choi. So now Frankie lam was the love interest for Ada while Yoyo likes Bobby lah. However, think things didnt work out in the end..so Ada & Bobby back together again?? Hehe! Well, lucky the plot is still interesting enough for me (tvb's police series are not bad...) I like the parts with Bobby and Yoyo too..so funny. The crime solving part is quite exciting...I think TVB fans must watch it ah! Sammi Cheng sung the themesong again..still very nice..hoho!
[卫斯理 The Wesley Files] TVB Actors: Luo Jia Liang, Meng Jia Hui, , Tang Wen Long, Yang Yi etc
My dad watched it first..ended up i also watched. Hahaha! The background of this drama is not in the modern era- in 40's or 50's in china ba? But i find Gallen's dressing quite "modern" in that era lah..goldish hair somemore. Hahaha! Heard that the HK ratings was not very good, but actually this drama is not that bad. Fans of Gallen Lo must watch ah, coz this was his last drama in TVB. The drama plot was divided into different stories lah, Yoyo mung acted as Bai Su while Tang Wen Long was her brother. Actually i didnt like Yoyo's bai su coz Bai su shld be someone who is very cool about things. In this drama...she kinda hesitated about her relationship with Mr wesley...abit funny lah. You will also see some other cast like xiang hai lan and roger kwok appearing in different stories lah. Overall, recommend it to u guys coz the plot is not bad.
