MacRitchie Reservoir Trip

Before I review my trip, gotta apologise to KH for being late. I actually overslept! (First time in my life, I missed an appointment because of this...ha!)
Our trip was "postponed" for a few hours due to heavy rain and thunders.
We had lunch at AMK Hub before heading to the reservoir.
Thank goodness! The weather was great, cool and windy, but it was humid as well.
I have not been to MacRitchie for at least 4 years. The place has changed a lot.
This is the Dam area.
and the view was fantastic!

Added art filters~

The draw-off tower.

The submerged boardwalk is supposed to be submerged in water, but it looked more like flooded boardwalk after the rain. Lolz!

The story of Force 136 during WWII.
Our nation hero, Mr Lim Bo Seng's grave.
Walking towards Chemperai Boardwalk.

Loved the greeny waters.

One of my favourite shots!

Chemperai Boardwalk.

Lots of water insects!

Lovely~

We were damn closed to this monkey, which picked up a torn packet drink.

A yellow insect....
Damselfly from afar~
Damselfly on a tree stick.
and resting on the boardwalk.

Hide tide.

Glad to snap 2 damselflies like this!!!

One tree stick with 3 damselflies.
--Auntie Kim's Korean Restaurant--
We reached Thomson Rd early and waited for nearly an hour for our dinner. This is our first visit to Auntie Kim, and their food was truly authentic.
They do not have many choices on their menu, and the price is not exactly cheap. I think it would be great to  share food with 3-4 ppl.
The side dishes.
KH's Pork Kimchi Fried Rice.
My Beef Kimchi Fried Rice.
The big and yummy seafood pancake! Loved the fragrant dipping sauce!!!

TV Drama Review #338 - Unmei no Hito 命运之人

No.of Eps: 9
Yr/TV Stn: 2012/TBS
Cast:
Motoki Masahiro as Yuminari Ryota
Matsu Takako as Yuminari Yuriko
Maki Yoko as Miki Akiko
Synopsis:
The story is inspired by the scandal 40 years ago surrounding the secret pact on Okinawa's reversion. The central character is Ryota, a newspaper reporter who prides himself on getting scoop after scoop and who exposes the political deceit behind the scandal. Akiko plays an official in the Department of Foreign Affairs, who disclosed the secret pact to Ryota.
Yuriko, Ryota's wife, is supportive of her husband, despite he lands in a difficult court case. However, she finds out that Ryota and Akiko's relationship is not as simple as it seems...
Why watch?
The plot is surprisingly...interesting. I did not expect myself to finish the drama, because the content is rather heavy and boring. The main characters are well developed, and it was good to see how they overcame their personal struggles.
Motoki gave a solid performance. We saw Ryota at the peak of his career, then the scandal which brought him down to hell, and we saw how he committed suicide, which did not succeed. In the end, he decided to lead a peaceful life in a small island. The people there gave him strength and courage to pick up his pen and write again. Of course, the best thing is Yuriko was by his side after a long separation.
I thought the 2 ladies wld be flower vases here, but their roles are pretty important.
I haven't seen Matsu for ages! Yuriko was such a refned lady, and it's sad that Ryota did not treasure her enough. However, the woman was strong and forgiving, and without her, I guessed Ryota would not have make it so far.
Maki Yoko's acting was not too bad, though Akiko's screen time was limited. and her storyline was mainly focused on the scandal and court scenes.
Why skip?
It's a political drama, so it might not be everyone's cup of tea.

TV Drama Review #337 - Saikou no Jinsei no Owarikata~Ending Planner~最完美的人生终点

No.of Eps: 10
Yr/TV Stn: 2012/TBS
Cast:
Yamashita Tomohisa as Ihara Masato
Eikura Nana as Sakamaki Yuki
Maeda Atsuko as Ihara Haruka
Sorimachi Takashi as Ihara Kento
Synopsis: (edited by Asianwiki)
26-year-old Masato work as the regional manager for a franchise restaurant. Masato's father runs a family funeral service business and works as a mortician there. Masato Ihara has 4 siblings and he is the second eldest son. Since an early age, Masato had a dislike for his father's business. Masato was relieved that his older brother Kento wanted to take over the family's business. One day, Masato sees a woman walking towards the end of a subway platform. Masato thinks that she is about to kill herself and grabs her arm. He tells her that someday you will remember today and think about how better it is that it didn't happen. That night, he has a group meeting and a woman comes in late. Masato is surprised to see that the person is the woman he saved at the subway station platform that morning. The woman's name is Yuki and she works as a detective.
Masato receives a phone call that his father fell off a ladder and is now in critical condition. Masato goes to the hospital. When he gets there, his father says that they should close the family funeral service business and then dies. Masato and his 3 siblings take their dead father home. They still don't know where their oldest Kento is. Masato and his siblings talk about how to hold their father's funeral and they decide to conduct the funeral service themselves. Masato watches a funeral service video and memorizes the steps. They then conduct their father's service and they also decide to close their family business...
Why watch?
The plot is somewhat refreshing as the dorama world is always flooded by detectives and other "non-romance" dramas. Japanese are good with human drama, and I watched the drama with some expectations. "Saikou" did not disappoints. It's about how a family manages a funeral business, and this job is considered some sort of a taboo, though everyone needs it when their lives end. The drama touches on every family character and their problems, which is standard procedure la.
It's a pity that the drama could not deliver more, but I know I should not compare with movies like "Okuribito".
Why skip?
The actors & actresses' acting were pretty plain. Sorry Yamapi, you're still not a good actor to me. Eikura is alright, but her character limits her performance. Maeda, one of the most famous member of AKB48, performed better, but I am still not impressed. The "used-to-be-A-lister" Sorimachi was great, but Kento is a support role. What a waste to have Sorimachi ne!
Theme song by Yamapi was boring. I seriously don't like him huh? Haha!

Shopping Day

--Chinatown & VivoCity--
Had my fish porridge and yusheng for lunch, and we headed to Vivo to shop around.
I decided to buy a watch for my belated birthday and reward-myself gift. Haha!
So, I bought my first Solvil et Titus Roma 1887 time piece from City Chain. It has also become my most expensive watch. Lolz!!
 --Sunset--
Taken at 7.24pm, normal mode.
